KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and CEO: Fumiyuki Kanai, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) is proud to announce that a new factory will be constructed for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Tonami, Toyama in order to accommodate the future expansion of semiconductor device its demands.

The semiconductor device market is experiencing a rapid expansion of demand shifting from semiconductors for traditional consumer devices such as cell phones and PCs to those for high-growth industries such as data centers, 5G, and AI. In line with this move, semiconductor devices are changing into more complex 3D structures which require semiconductor manufacturing equipment of higher quality, higher performance, and higher productivity. Growing demand for such equipment is expected to drive the growth of the semiconductor manufacturing equipment market where we belong to.
With this background, we have decided to build a new factory in Tonami, Toyama where capable of using existing supply chains and logistics network, to have production capacity greater for those our major products of Batch Deposition Equipment*1 and Single Wafer Treatment Equipment*2. By this new factory construction and expanding its production capacity of existing production sites (Toyama city, Toyama and Korea), it expects to create production capacity about twice as big as the ones of the fiscal year ended March 2021.
