The KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and Chief Executive Officer: Fumiyuki Kanai, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that the company has received a “AA” rating in the MSCI ESG Ratings and has been selected as a constituent of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, an index composed of companies selected by MSCI for their excellent ESG evaluations.
The MSCI ESG Ratings is assigned by MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International, Inc.), a U.S. company that calculates stock price indexes, to assess the degree to which each company manages industry-specific ESG risks compared with its peers on a seven point scale from “AAA”, the highest rating, to “CCC”.
The MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index is an ESG investment index created by MSCI, which is composed of companies with excellent ESG evaluations in each industry selected from the constituents of its parent index (MSCI Japan IMI Index). This index has also been adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) as a benchmark for ESG investment.
