KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and CEO: Fumiyuki Kanai, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) is proud to announce that the company completed the construction of its TONAMI MANUFACTURING CENTER a new factory for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, and held a completion ceremony on September 18.

At the completion ceremony, with the attendance of approximately 100 guests, including Governor of Toyama Prefecture Hachiro Nitta and Mayor of Tonami City Osamu Natsuno, we prayed for the lasting prosperity of the TONAMI MANUFACTURING CENTER. Residents' association of Shimonakajo, where the factory is located, offered a lion dance performance as part of their prayer.

The TONAMI MANUFACTURING CENTER will be our second Japanese production base after the Toyama Technology & Manufacturing Center in the Yatsuo district of Toyama City and will operate as a main factory for some of our major products: deposition process equipment and treatment (film property improvement) process equipment. Through the maximum use of smart transformation (SX),1 we will upgrade our manufacturing process, material handling,2 and facility management to double our production capacity and manufacturing efficiency.3
Also, the TONAMI MANUFACTURING CENTER will be an environmentally friendly factory that will run on 100% renewable energy. We will introduce a solar power generation system that can supply enough electricity to operate the entire factory. In addition, the factory will conserve energy by using an energy management system (EMS).
