The Company Files a Patent Infringement Lawsuit in Korea Regarding Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment

KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and Chief Executive Officer: Fumiyuki Kanai; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and its group company Kook Je Electric Korea Co., Ltd. (Kokusai Electric Korea Co., Ltd.) (President and Chief Executive Officer: YONGSUNG PARK; Head Office: Cheonan City, Korea; hereinafter “KEK”) filed four lawsuits at the Seoul Central District Court in Korea, effective February 5, 2024, against Eugene Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Eugene Technology”), a semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturer in Korea, on the grounds that this manufacturer infringed on the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group’s patents for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. 

As a specialty manufacturer in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group has conducted research and development for many years, focusing on deposition processes. This time, the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC and KEK have concluded that semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufactured by Eugene Technology infringed on four patents held by the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group regarding substrate processing equipment, etc.

We will continue to regard intellectual properties, which are results of research and development, as important management resources and will respond strictly if intellectual property rights are found to be violated.
