Some of our officers and employees visited Fukushima Nursery School and Sugihara Children’s Center, both located near our Toyama Technology & Manufacturing Center, to hold open-air environmental classes using a handmade picture-story show. Children asked many questions and seemed to deepen their understanding of the environment.

We also donated bitter melon seedlings (90 seedlings in total for both facilities), which are expected to serve as green curtains in summer, and soil. Each child planted one seedling and then said a magic word, “Grow big!” The seedlings will grow and have lots of leaves in summer, which will block direct sunlight entering through the windows of the facilities. This will help reduce room temperature rise. We have been conducting these activities since 2011 and plan to continue with them in the future.

Under its corporate slogan “Technology & Tai-wa for Tomorrow,” the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group will continue to pursue economic, environmental, and social values through both its business activities and ESG initiatives (resolving environmental and social issues and strengthening governance), with the aim of contributing to the achievement of SDGs and realizing both a sustainable society and the group’s sustainable development.
