Signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

KOKUSAI ELECTRIC CORPORATION (President and CEO: Fumiyuki Kanai, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) is pleased to announce that it has signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles (“WEPs”), a set of principles fostering business practices that promote women’s advancement.

The WEPs consist of seven principles established by the UN Global Compact and UN Women in 2010. These international principles are expected to encourage businesses to work voluntarily on gender equality and women’s empowerment as their core management issues and provide them with a way to increase the vigor and growth of corporate activities and advance women’s economic empowerment.

To generate corporate innovation with integrated diverse values, the KOKUSAI ELECTRIC Group has been working to promote diversity and inclusion. Our signature to the WEPs this time will help us accelerate women’s advancement and become a company where a diversity of people can respect their individual characteristics and fully exercise their abilities.

The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality.

2.

Treat all women and men fairly at work– respect and support human rights and nondiscrimination.

3.

Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all women and men workers.

4.

Promote education, training and professional development for women.

5.

Implement enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices that empower women.

6.

Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.

7.

Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality.
